Dr. Nir Pillar

Dr. Nir Pillar is a senior pathologist at Hadassah medical center. He obtained his MD from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer Sheva and his PhD in molecular biology from Tel Aviv University. In 2022, Dr. Pillar joined the faculty of Engineering in UCLA to develop novel applications of artificial intelligence in pathology. Specifically, he focused on applying generative models to create virtual histological staining.  Dr. Pillar’s academic accomplishments have awarded him the Rothschild Fellowship for Young Scholars of Outstanding Academic Merit, the Colton Scholarship for Outstanding Academic Merit, the PhRMA Translational Medicine Grant, the UCLA Chancellor’s Award for Postdoctoral Research and the American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Merit Award.
