Founded in 1922, Hadassah Department of Pathology is one of the leaders of the clinical pathology in Israel. With a full archive of slides and FFPE blocks, the department provides comprehensive diagnostic services to Hadassah hospital branches and external private clinics like Raphael Health Center, handling approximately 45,000 tissue and cytology cases annually.
Equipped with one of the world's leading molecular laboratories, the department excels in DNA/RNA sequencing, biomarkers discovery, and precision diagnostics, processing ~1,000 molecular cases annually with a projected increase to 2,000 in 2025. Its state-of-the-art facilities support cutting-edge R&D, enabling collaborations with industry and academic partners. Backed by a team of 17 expert pathologists, 5 residents and 30 MOH certified lab technicians, the department combines diagnostic excellence with pioneering research to advance precision medicine.
Services
- Validated and experience-based procedure approved by MOH and CAP-accredited.
- Tissue processing in automated new processors (Magnus, Milestone Medical, Italy).
- Tissue staining (H&E) by automated stainer (Sakura).
- Scanners for digitization of slides (Leica, X20, X40).
- Immuno- and histochemical stains by automated Ultra (and upcoming Ultra-Plus) platforms by Ventana (Roche). More than 200 clinically approved antibodies and capabilities are used for research based assays.
- In situ hybridization techniques (FISH, DISH, CISH, DDISH).
- Electron microscopy unit with new 1400 JOEL electron-microscope.
Molecular Unit
The unit provides services of DNA and RNA purification from FFPE blocks, library preparation, and DNA & RNA sequencing.
